British scientists have discovered what they believe to be new species near the volcanic vents in the Indian Ocean.
The team of researchers from the University of Southampton using a robot controlled remotely to photograph the animals.
Our correspondent says some animals that had never known before andmost likely include a new species.
Among sea cucumbers, crabs, hairy, and scaly snail.
Dr Jon Copley, one of the researchers in this project, said his team wasinterested in doing research in that area because volcanic vents are locatedin the middle of the intersection of Atlantic and Indian Ocean region.
"So we expect the existence of animals that have the properties of the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic," says Copley.
"But we also find the animals that is totally different from the original nature of these two neighboring regions. This is really a surprise," he added.
"One is a hairy yeti kepting. What we know there are two species of the Pacific. What we found completely different from those in the Pacific," saidCopley.
"The same type but which we found to have long legs and there are lots offeathers on the legs of these animals," he said.
The team of scientists also said he was surprised by the many kinds of lifefound at the sites.
Scientists will examine how these marine animals evolved.
